Foundation

Our History

Recognizing the need for enhancing the quality of life in St. Bernard Parish, the Kiwanis Club of St. Bernard-Arabi established The Spirit of St. Bernard Foundation (formerly known as the St. Bernard Kiwanis Foundation) in 1997. Administered by a voluntary board of directors, the foundation is designed to create, maintain and expand charitable endeavors in our community.

Our Purpose

The purpose of The Spirit of St. Bernard Foundation is to serve as a conduit between the Foundation and the community for business and individuals to support their local communities through tax exempt charitable donations and endowments designed to enhance the quality of life through educational, patriotic, or other community spirited organizations.

Our Mission

Our mission is to seek opportunities for community relationships and to help local organizations fulfill their charitable goals.  The Foundation will build upon and expand the work of community-based service organizations.

Our Structure

To insure integrity, Foundation funds are governed and disbursed by the voluntary Board of Directors of The Spirit of St. Bernard Foundation.  All contributions to the foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Our Donors

A gift to the Foundation allows you to leave a forever legacy and make a difference in the community of St. Bernard Parish. Contributors to the Stream of Dreams, an endowed fund, can make a onetime donation or a pledge for an annual gift.  Planned giving options are also available.  Your gift in your or your family’s name will last forever.  Your gift is created as an endowment guaranteeing support for your chosen charity in perpetuity. A legacy scholarship can also be a gift from an individual, family, or organization that meets a need to honor or remember someone and answers a commitment to improving our community. Donations of cash or marketable securities are accepted. Donors may designate their contribution for a particular purpose or apply their gift to the operation of all Foundation projects.

TERRIFIC KIDS
Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. Students work with their classroom teacher and establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance, or schoolwork. Students then work toward achieving the goal during a specific time period. The teachers and principal determine the best schedule for recognition.
